Furey may miss CHaD Game

It’s been a rough week for Timberlane Regional running back Tyler Furey.

Furey suffered a hamstring injury on the second day of practice for Saturday’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, but was nearly back to full strength when he had to have a Perineural cyst removed from Wednesday at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Manchester.

Furey was originally scheduled to be the East’s primary back, but it now seems unlikely that he will play.

Furey was a four-year varsity player at Timberlane, where he rushed for 2,993 yards and scored 35 touchdowns during his high school career. He ran for 992 yards and 14 touchdowns on 173 rushing attempts last season, when Timberlane lost to Pinkerton Academy of Derry in the Division I quarterfinals. He also caught 12 passes for 148 yards as a senior.

Furey will continue his football career at Curry College in Milton, Mass., next season.

Saturday’s game will be played at Saint Anselm College, and is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
