Winnisquam’s Riberdy resigns

Pat Riberdy resigned as Winnisquam Regional High School’s varsity football coach on Tuesday, saying it was time for him to take a break from football.

“I have a few other things going on,” Riberdy said. “I figured I’d step back and take a few seasons off to work on my golf game.”

Riberdy, 49, led Winnisquam to a 9-0 record and the Division IV championship last season, his 12th as Winnisquam’s head coach. He also coached New Hampshire in last summer’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl.

“I know a few of my assistant coaches  are interested in the job,” Riberdy said. “We have qualified guys on the staff and if they do hire from inside I’m sure I’ll remain involved in some way.”
