TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2021
No. 9: Gilford/Belmont 22, Sanborn 21

There was plenty of action in the final minute of the Division II season opener for these two teams.

Sanborn had a one-point lead at halftime and led 21-14 after Kevin Kolodziej scored on a 4-yard run with 1:45 to play, but Gilford/Belmont’s Michael Kitto came up with three big plays after that.

First, Kitto caught a 48-yard pass that set up his 1-yard TD run with 59 seconds remaining. Gilford/Belmont chose to go for two and Kitto ran in the conversion to put the Golden Eagles up 22-21.

Sanborn drove into field goal range on its final possession, but the kick fell short as time expired.

Nate Ashby (53-yard run) and Rex Sullivan (6-yard run) also scored for Sanborn. Ashy ran for 137 yards on 17 carries.
