CHaD Practice: Day 4

Notes from the fourth day of practice for this year’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played June 25 (1 p.m. kickoff) at Saint Anselm College’s Grappone Stadium:

CHaD GAME
PRACTICE REPORT

The players on Team West got a taste of the real thing Monday, when a controlled scrimmage was part of the team’s practice. “Saw some good things and we got what we needed out of it,” West head coach Robin Bowkett said. “Overall in the grand scheme of things we were looking for guys to be able to line up, do their job, execute their assigments and just know what they’re doing. From an individual standpoint are their guys making plays who we thought would make plays? Are there guys making plays who maybe caught our eye who hadn’t in the last couple days? That’s for the most part what we were looking for.”  … Bowkett said Concord’s Kody Rashid was among those who stood out during the scrimmage. “He had graduation stuff Friday and Saturday and he jumped in there at outside linebacker today. He looks like he’s chiseled out of granite.  He definitely looked pretty solid. I would say guys who have been solid the last few days have been the Rokes twins (Jarrod and Marcus) from Keene. They are super coachable, tough as nails, they’ve been picking up things offensively and defensively really well and have been a pleasure to be around. Both of them are playing inside linebacker, and Marcus Rokes has been playing like a fullback for us.” … This year’s game will be held Saturday (1 p.m.) at Saint Anselm College. … Bowkett said that outside linebacker/strong safety may be the team’s deepest position. “We have like eight-to-10 guys who are really good at those spots,” he said. “That’s going to be a good area for us. And then on offense both of our quarterbacks are really solid (Bedford’s Joe Mikol and Merrimack’s Kyle Crampton). We feel that the depth and quality be slightly better than last year in terms of playmakers on that side of the ball.  … The West will practice at Manchester West from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. … Bowkett said some players on the West roster will play on both sides of the ball. “In terms of finalizing a two-deep, we’re pretty close to that.” … More information on this year’s game, including how to donate to the cause or purchase tickets, can be found on the CHaD East/West All-Star Game web site.
