Jackson, Lauzon named CHaD coaches

Merrimack High School’s Kip Jackson and Londonderry High School’s Jimmy Lauzon were on opposite sidelines during the NHIAA Division I playoffs this season, and they will also be on opposite sidelines for the 2023 CHaD New Hampshire East-West All-Star Game.

Jackson will serve as the West’s head coach and Lauzon will coach the East when the teams meet June 23 at Saint Anselm College. Londonderry beat Merrimack 21-7 in the Division I quarterfinals.

“It’s going to be a night game,” said Nick Vailas, the game’s founder. “We tried to play at night a few years ago and because of thunderstorms we had to finish the game at Memorial High School (the following day). We’re going to try it again.”

Lauzon guided the East to a 17-13 victory in 2019. He was also named the East’s head coach in 2020, but that game was canceled because of Covid.

Jackson has been involved in the CHaD All-Star Game as an assistant coach, but this will be the first time he will be a head coach. He has also been an assistant coach in the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl.

The East team can draw players from Alvirne, Campbell, Dover, Epping-Newmarket, Exeter, Gilford, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Kennett, Kingswood, Laconia, Londonderry, Pelham, Pembroke, Portsmouth, Pinkerton Academy, Raymond, Salem, Sanborn, Somersworth, Spaulding, St. Thomas, Timberlane, Winnacunnet, Windham, and Winnisquam.

The West team draws players from Bishop Brady, Bishop Guertin, Bedford, Bow, Concord, Con-Val, Goffstown, Fall Mountain, Franklin, Hanover, Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton, Hollis-Brookline, John Stark, Kearsarge, Keene, Lebanon, Manchester Central, Manchester Memorial, Manchester West, Mascoma, Milford, Merrimack, Merrimack Valley, Monadnock, Nashua North, Nashua South, Newfound Regional, Newport, Plymouth, Souhegan, Stevens, and Trinity.

The West won the 2022 game 26-0 and leads the series 7-3.

Selections for the CHaD Game will be made Tuesday night.
