Bourque will play at Norwich

Goffstown High School’s Connor Bourque, a 5-foot-5, 155-pound running back who was named the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year following his senior season, will continue his football career at Norwich University, a Division III school located in Northfield, Vt.

“I gave a verbal commitment (Monday),” Bourque said. “I like the football program a lot, and financially it was my best option.”

Bourque, who said he was also considering Plymouth State and Framingham State, helped Goffstown go 12-0 and win the Division I championship last season. He ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns when Goffstown beat Exeter 42-14 in the Division I championship game.

Bourque, 18, finished the 2015 season with 1,554 yards rushing and 26 rushing touchdowns on 158 carries. He also caught 17 passes for 163 yards and two TDs, and scored twice on kickoff returns. He’ll cap his high school career by playing for the West team in the CHaD New Hampshire East-West All-Star Game, which will be played June 25 at St. Anselm College.

Bourque was a three-sport varsity athlete at Goffstown. He also wrestled and played lacrosse.
