Billerica repeats as North Regional champion

Billerica (Mass.) won the Under Armour Northeast 7-on-7 North Regional championship last summer, and the Indians won that title again this summer.

Billerica, a team that has 17 starters eligible to return from last year’s 10-1 team, beat Danvers, Mass., 20-12 in Saturday’s championship game at Exeter High School.

There were 19 New Hampshire teams in the 40-team event, and eight reached the Round of 16: Concord, Londonderry, Monadnock, John Stark, Goffstown, Bishop Guertin, Winnacunnet and Portsmouth.  BG was the only New Hampshire team that reached the semifinals. Danvers, Mass., eliminated the Cardinals in the semis.

The Round of 8 featured Londonderry, Danvers, BB&N, Greater Lawrence, John Stark, BG, Billerica and Wells, Maine.

Billerica advanced out of a pool that included Goffstown, ConVal, North Middlesex and Marshwood. Billerica’s path to the championship game included victories over Winnacunnet, Wells and BB&N.

Exeter, Trinity, Bedford, Souhegan, Merrimack Valley, Dover, Epping/Newmarket, Bow, Portsmouth, Timberlane and Kingswood were the other New Hampshire teams in the event.
