DeAndrade collects preseason honor

University of New Hampshire defensive back Casey DeAndrade is one of 22 players named to the 2016 STATS FCS Defensive Player of the Year Watch List on Friday.

DeAndrade, a 5-foot-11, 212-pound senior, earned three All-America Team accolades following the 2015 season – including STATS FCS All-America Second Team. He was named to the 2016 STATS FCS Preseason All-America First Team earlier this month, and last week DeAndrade was announced as a member of the CAA Preseason All-Conference Team. He has been a CAA All-Conference First Team honoree at both cornerback and punt returner each of the past two years.

DeAndrade led UNH in both tackles (76) and pass breakups (10) in 2015. He also led the team in punt returns (20) and punt return yards (226). That included a 90-yard TD return at nationally-ranked William & Mary. His 11.3-yard punt return average led the CAA and ranked No. 15 in the nation.
