New Hampshire Football Report

Long selects BC

Former Exeter High School tight end Hunter Long committed to Boston College on Saturday. Long made the announcement on his Twitter account.

“BC just seems like a great fit for me,” Long said. “The coaching staff has been great and I have loved every visit down to campus. It is a great academic school and they use two or three tight ends almost every play. The people I have talked to on campus have been great and I can easily picture myself going to school there for four years. It has always been a dream of mine to play football at that level and it is still unbelievable to me that that dream has come true.”

Long, who has gained 30 pounds since the end of his senior season (he’s now 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds), also had offers from Fordham, UNH, Boston College, UMass, Rhode Island and Holy Cross. He is the second New Hampshire player to commit to Boston College this summer. John Stark quarterback Drew McQuarrie committed to BC last month.

Long will play for Deerfield Academy next season. Former Exeter and UNH offensive lineman Brian Barbato is Deerfield’s head coach.
