University of New Hampshire safety Pop Lacey was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Week on Monday.
- Lacey, a true freshman, recorded a game-high 14 tackles in UNH’s 39-28 victory against Holy Cross in the inaugural game at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday night.
- Lacey made 12 solos stops, which was more than any other player recorded total tackles. He made five tackles (5-0-5) in the second quarter and five more (4-1-5) in the third.
- Lacey was also credited with a pass breakup.
- Lacey’s defensive efforts helped the UNH defense limit the Crusaders to seven points the last 41 minutes of the game, which allowed the Wildcats to overcome a 21-6 deficit.
- Lacey has a team-leading 16 tackles (14-2-16) in two games as a collegian.
