CAA honors UNH’s Lacey

University of New Hampshire safety Pop Lacey was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Lacey, a true freshman, recorded a game-high 14 tackles in UNH’s 39-28 victory against Holy Cross in the inaugural game at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday night.
Lacey made 12 solos stops, which was more than any other player recorded total tackles. He made five tackles (5-0-5) in the second quarter and five more (4-1-5) in the third.
Lacey was also credited with a pass breakup.
Lacey’s defensive efforts helped the UNH defense limit the Crusaders to seven points the last 41 minutes of the game, which allowed the Wildcats to overcome a 21-6 deficit.
Lacey has a team-leading 16 tackles (14-2-16) in two games as a collegian.
