Bedford remains on top

The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, voted by the staffs of the New Hampshire Union Leader and ESPN New Hampshire, with record, first-place votes/points in parentheses, plus last week’s ranking:

1. Bedford, 4-0 (6/69), 1st

Bedford remained in the top spot thanks to a 21-7 triumph over previously unbeaten Goffstown.

2. Merrimack, 3-1 (60), 2nd

The Tomahawks have a tough test Friday against No. 4 Salem.

3. Exeter, 4-0 (1/57), 3rd

Exeter survived its annual test against rival Winnacunnet.

4. Salem, 4-0 (52), 5th

Remained undefeated with a convincing victory over Timberlane.

5. Goffstown, 3-1 (39), 4th

Loss to Bedford ended Goffstown’s 17-game winning streak.

6. Windham, 4-0 (34), 6th

A Windham/Salem Thanksgiving Day game sure would create a lot of interest.

7. John Stark, 4-0 (19), 8th

The Generals have two unbeaten teams remaining on their schedule: Plymouth and Hanover.

8. (tie) Pinkerton Academy, 2-2 (12), 9th

Moved up one spot after a 21-14 victory over rival Londonderry in the rain.

8.  (tie) Dover, 3-1 (12), NR

After losing its opener to Exeter, the Green Wave has won three in a row.

10. Plymouth, 4-0 (9), NR

The Bobcats are the third Division II team in this week’s poll.

Also receiving votes: Nashua North 3-1 (27), NR; Bishop Guertin 3-1 (6), 7th;  Monadnock, 4-0 (4), NR; Portsmouth 3-1 (3), NR; Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 4-0 (2), NR.
