New Hampshire Football Report

Windham climbs to third

UNION LEADER/ESPN NH
POWER POLL

The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, voted by the staffs of the New Hampshire Union Leader and ESPN New Hampshire, with record, first-place votes/points in parentheses, plus last week’s ranking:

1. Bedford, 5-0 (7/70), 1st

Bedford is the only unbeaten team in Division I.

2. Merrimack, 4-1 (63), 2nd

The Tomahawks have won four in a row and scored 205 points in those four victories.

3. Windham, 5-0 (46), 6th

Voters clearly think the Jaguars are better than most teams in Division I.

4. Goffstown, 4-1 (45), 5th

Grizzlies had their hands full with winless Memorial.

5. Salem, 4-1 (43), 4th

Blue Devils suffered their first loss — and surrendered first place — Friday at Merrimack.

6. Exeter, 4-1 (31), 3rd

Few expected Exeter to come up short against Portsmouth at home.

7. Portsmouth, 4-1 (28), NR

The Clippers enter the poll after extending their winning streak to three games. Makes you wonder what happened that night against Dover.

8. Nashua North, 4-1 (23), NR

Titans have an interesting matchup against Exeter this weekend.

9. John Stark, 5-0 (13), 7th

The Generals are in position to make the playoffs for the first time in the program’s history.

10. (tie) Plymouth, 5-0 (10), 10th

Plymouth and John Stark could both be unbeaten when they meet in two weeks.

10. (tie) Bishop Guertin, 4-1 (10), NR

Saturday’s game against Portsmouth is a big one for both teams with regard to playoff positioning.

Also receiving votes: Monadnock, 5-0 (3), NR.
