ConVal improved its Division II record to 5-1 and stretched its winning streak to five games by beating Hollis/Brookline, 36-32, Saturday, and the Cougars did it without three of their top players.

ConVal lost three starters in its offensive backfield to injury in the first half. Quarterback Dan Spezzaferri was among those who had to leave the game.

Sophomore QB Keenan Wilson was intercepted twice in the third quarter, but directed two scoring drives in the fourth. His 57-yard TD pass to Isaac Bacon proved to be the difference. Wilson completed 11 of 15 passes for 170 yards, and ran for a 5-yard touchdown.

Bacon and Liam Baldwin each had eight receptions in the game. The Cougars also received a strong performance from defensive back Hunter Gullage.

Hollis-Brookline (4-2) led 32-29 with 5:29 to play, but Wilson connected with Bacon for the 57-yard TD pass less than three minutes later.

ConVal is in position to earn its first playoff berth since the 2009 season.
