PSU drops third straight

PLYMOUTH – Sophomore Quron Wright rushed for 175 yards and four touchdowns Saturday leading Framingham State University to a 41-7 victory over Plymouth State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football game at Currier Field.

Wright scored on short runs of five and one yard respectively in the first quarter.  His third touchdown run, a 56-yarder early in the third quarter, gave the visitors a commanding 33-7 lead and with heavy rain showers all but put the game away for the Rams.  He capped his day with a seven-yard jaunt into the end zone in the fourth stanza.

Plymouth State, which has now lost its last three games, drops to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in the MASCAC.  Framingham improves to 5-2 and 4-1.

GAME NOTES

*Framingham State scored on the game’s opening drive, going 66 yards on eight plays with Wright scoring from five yards out.

*The Rams made it 14-0 on their next possession using Wright for three straight plays and 42 yards ending with a one yard scoring run.  Freshman Shawn St Marie (Wilbraham, Mass.) added his second PAT.

*Plymouth State cut the lead in half early in the second frame after sophomore Zack Edwards (Brookfield, Mass) found sophomore Brandonn Drumgole (Mt. Sinai, NY) from 31 yards out.

*The Rams added 13 unanswered points on a sophomore Duron Hines (Chelsea, Mass.) 24-yard touchdown run and an Adam Wojenski (Stratford, Conn.) 11-yard pass to junior Stephen Beahn (Spencer, Mass.) to close out the half.

* Wright’s two second-half scores closed out the FSU scoring.

*FSU outgained Plymouth State 439 to 129 in total yards.

PSU STATS LEADERS

* Freshman David Hamilton (Westville, NJ) rushed for 44 yards on nine carries.

*Edwards was 8 for 22 with 69 yards and one interception

*Dromgole caught two passes for 31 yards and a score.

*Freshman Eric Smith (Seeconk, Mass.) let the defense with seven tackles.

FSU STATS LEADERS

* Wright gained 175 yards on 22 carries (4 touchdowns)

*Sophomore Will Cowdrey (Marlborough, Mass) added 52 yards on just six attempts.

*Wojenski completed 15 of 22 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns.

*Sophomore Napoleon Miller (Boston, Mass) hauled in six passes (59 yards).
