New Hampton routs Holderness

Mike Donnelly ran for three touchdowns and Ian Gobbi scored twice to help the New Hampton School football team defeat Holderness 53-12 in the rain Saturday.

New Hampton scored 46 points in the first half, included 32 in the second quarter.

Donnelly’s TD runs covered 4, 4 and 29 yards. He finished the game with six carries for 51 yards.

Gobbi scored on a 49-yard run, and caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jake Dulac. Gobbi carried the ball three times for a team-high 79 yards, and caught three passes for 64 yards. Dulac completed 5 of 10 passes for 109 yards.

New Hampton’s other touchdowns came on Dulac’s 9-yard run; a 36-yard fumble return by Matt Narewski; and Marcus Peterson’s 70-yard punt return.

The victory raised New Hampton’s record to 3-2. Holderness dropped to 2-3.

Holderness lost three fumbles and was held to 158 yards of offense.

New Hampton will play at Hyde (Woodstock, Conn.) on Saturday (2 p.m.)
