Bedford keeps top poll position

The top 10 high school football teams in New Hampshire, voted by the staffs of the New Hampshire Union Leader and ESPN New Hampshire, with record, first-place votes/points in parentheses, plus last week’s ranking:

1. Bedford, 11-0 (7/70), 1st

The Bulldogs survived a serious scare from Merrimack to remain unbeaten. Up next: Exeter in the Division I championship game.

2. Exeter, 10-1 (60), 3rd

Needed a field goal in overtime to beat Nashua North and extend its season. The Blue Hawks will present the kind of challenge Bedford hasn’t seen before.

3. Merrimack, 9-2 (59), 2nd

Season complete.

4. Nashua North, 8-3 (49), 5th

The Titans still have a matchup with Nashua South on Wednesday night.

5. Goffstown, 7-3 (40), 6th

Season complete.

6. Plymouth, 9-2 (33), T-7th

The Bobcats are one step away from another state title.

7. Windham, 10-1 (23), 4th

Season complete.

8. Salem, 6-4 (20), T-7th

Season complete.

9. Bow, 9-2 (17), 10th

The Falcons could win the Division II title in the same year they moved up from Division III.

10. Nashua South, 6-4 (8), NR

The Panthers can move up by beating North on Wednesday.
