Defense preserves South victory

Levi Gosselin was stopped short of the goal line with 6.3 seconds to play to preserve a six-point lead as Nashua South beat Nashua North 41-35 Wednesday night at Stellos Stadium in the city’s annual Thanksgiving game.

North (8-4) trailed 41-21 after South (7-4) quarterback Sean Holland scored on an 8-yard run with 7:43 to play, but Tylor Chase returned the ensuing kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown, and Levi Gosselin made it a one-score game with a 4-yard touchdown run.

Holland also passed for three touchdowns in the victory. He tossed a 15-yard TD pass to Max Osgood in the second quarter; connected with Tarpon Olson for a 29-yard TD pass in the third quarter; and found Alex Amigo for  59-yard TD pass early in the fourth. Olson’s TD broke a 21-21 tie. South also received two touchdown runs from Myles Johnson (2 and 20 yards).

North’s other TD came on a 15-yard pass from quarterback Jeff Baldassari to Steve Lambert; Gosselin’s 12-yard run; and Jordan Buckmire’s 27-yard pass  from Baldassari. Gosselin’s run on the conversion attempt that followed Buckmire’s TD made it a 21-21 game.
