UNH lands QB

Quarterback Bret Edwards, a junior at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Mass., has committed to the University of New Hampshire.

Edwards completed 106 of his 167 passes for 1,493 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. He led Central Catholic to the Division 1 North semifinals last season, and helped the Raiders reach the Division 1 Super Bowl as a sophomore.

Edwards is also the starting point guard on Central Catholic’s boys basketball team. Central Catholic is scheduled to play unbeaten Cambridge Rindge and Latin in the Division 1 North on Saturday.
