Perkins added to Shrine team

Lebanon High School defensive back/wide receiver Nate Perkins has been added to the New Hampshire team for next month’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl. This year’s game will take place Aug. 5 on Spartan Field at Castleton (Vt.) University.

Vermont’s 50-2 victory last summer ended New Hampshire’s 15-game winning streak, and the 48-point difference was the largest margin of victory in the game’s history. It was also the most points a Vermont team has scored in the game. New Hampshire has a 47-14-2 edge in the series.

Proceeds raised through the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl benefit Shriners Hospitals for
Crippled and Burned Children. In its first 63 years the event has raised nearly $5 million. The Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl  is one of 30 Shrine games played every year across the country. The game is sponsored by the two Shrine Centers of Vermont, Cairo (Rutland)
and Mt. Sinai (Montpelier).
