UNH releases 2018 schedule

DURHAM – The University of New Hampshire football team unveiled its 2018 schedule Wednesday. The announcement was made in conjunction with release of the CAA conference schedule Wednesday.

UNH will kick off the 2018 season at the University of Maine on Thursday, Aug. 30. It will mark the second consecutive year the Wildcats and Black Bears clash for the Brice-Cowell Musket in the season opener. This past August in a Thursday Night Throwdown matchup at Wildcat Stadium, UNH prevailed 24-23.

UNH’s 2018 Homecoming Weekend coincides with the first home conference game of the 2018 season, which is Oct. 13 against Stony Brook University.

UNH plays host to Colgate University for its home opener Sept. 8. UNH has broken the program record for highest opening game attendance each of the past two years – 13,242 in 2016 and 15,854 in 2017.

UNH will play at the University of Colorado on Sept. 15, then has an open week before returning to CAA action in Week 5 (Sept. 29) at Elon University.

The Wildcats kick off a three-week homestand Oct. 6 against College of the Holy Cross. Following Homecoming weekend, the Wildcats play host to the University of Delaware on Oct. 20; the last time the Blue Hens traveled to Durham was in November 2014.

In Week 9 (Oct. 27), the UNH Wildcats travel to the Keystone State to play Villanova. These programs have not met since October 2013 – a 29-28 home win – and New Hampshire hasn’t made the road trip to Villanova since the 2010 season.

UNH and James Madison tussle for the third consecutive year with a Nov. 3 matchup at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats remain at home the following weekend (Nov. 10) for Senior Day against the University at Albany.

The Wildcats close out the 2018 regular season Nov. 17 at Rhode Island.
