BG’s Moore steps down

Citing family reasons, Jeff Moore has resigned after three seasons as Bishop Guertin’s varsity football coach.

BG went 13-16 and made two playoff appearances during Moore’s tenure. BG lost to Bedford in the 2015 quarterfinals, and to Nashua North in the 2016 quarterfinals. The Cardinals went 1-8 and missed the playoffs this season.

“I spoke with the team (Monday),” Moore said. “I talked about it with my family and just felt in was in my best interest to move on.”

Moore, a Nashua resident, also served as the head coach at Lowell (Mass.) High School, Dracut (Mass.) High School and The Groton School in Groton, Mass. He also served as the defensive coordinator at Framingham (Mass.) State.

“I met some great people, parents and players in the last three years,” Moore said. “I got a chance to coach some great players, some of whom are now playing in college. I loved coaching at BG.”
