Third-seeded Pinkerton earned a spot in Saturday’s Division I championship game by knocking off top-seeded and previously unbeaten Salem 45-28 Saturday in the Division I South/West semifinals.

Pinkerton lineman Josh McCormack recovered two fumbles for touchdowns to help the Astros avenge their only regular-season loss and raise their record to 10-1. Pinkerton will play Winnacunnet (11-0) for the Division I title at the University of New Hampshire (6 p.m.).

Pinkerton quarterback Aiden Goujon tossed two touchdown passes in the game, a 70-yard completion to Gennaro Marra and a 16-yard strike to Kayden Baillargeon. Marra also scored on a 47-yard run.

The Astros also received a 4-yard touchdown run from Gannon Fast and a 24-yard field goal from Brandon Roy. Pinkerton ran for 324 yards in the victory.

Salem (10-1) beat Pinkerton 35-20 earlier this season.

The Astros are seeking their first state championship since they beat Bedford 37-0 in the 2014 Division I title game.
