Central Connecticut suspends QB

Starting quarterback Jacob Dolegala is one of two Central Connecticut football players who has been suspended by head coach Pete Rossomando, according to a statement released by the school.

Dolegala and offensive lineman David Cinti have each been suspended for one game for violation of team policy, and will not play in Saturday’s FCS tournament game against the University of New Hampshire (2 p.m.).

“We have a certain set of standards we hold our players accountable to and unfortunately these two men did not live up to those,” Rossomando told the Hartford Courant. “We had to unfortunately suspend them and we’re going to have to play this week without them.”

The Blue Devils (8-3, 6-0 Northeast Conference) will enter Saturday’s contest on an eight-game winning streak.

Dolegala, a 6-foot-6 junior,  became the school’s all-time leading passer this season. He’s thrown for 5,908 yards and 32 touchdowns in his career. Dolegala has completed 145 of 274 passes for 1,953 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. He’s also run for 212 yards and four touchdowns on 52 carries.

Sophomore Tanner Kingsley will likely get the start at QB against UNH. Kingsley has completed 5 of 9 passes for for 13 yards this season.
