St. Anselm hires OC

MANCHESTER – The Saint Anselm College football program has announced the hiring of Jordan Softcheck as its offensive coordinator.

Softcheck comes to the Hilltop off of a two-year stint at Brown University, where he was most recently in charge of recruiting and coaching wide receivers. Before his stint with the Bears, he coached the wide receivers at the University of Dayton from 2012-15, helping the Flyers to a 31-14 record over that span.

“We are excited to add Jordan to our Hawks football family,” said St. Anselm coach Joe Adam said. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from the different coaching stops he has had in his career. His positivity and energy will bring an added dimension to our offense. His background in recruiting high-academic and high-character student-athletes will be a great benefit to not only our team, but the institution.”

During his time at Brown, Softcheck coached two All-Ivy League selections, including 2017 selection Jakob Prall who ranked sixth in the league in reception yards. In 2016, the Bears’ Alex Jette ranked ninth in the Ivy League in all-purpose yards and finished his career as a four-time First Team All-Ivy selection.

At Dayton, Softcheck coordinated the passing game and coached standout Ross Smith, who finished his Flyers career ranked third all-time in career receptions (118) and fifth in single-season catches (57, 2014). The Flyers qualified for the NCAA Division I FCS postseason in 2015, taking on Western Illinois in the first round.

A 2009 graduate of NCAA Division II Wingate University, Softcheck was an assistant coach for the Bulldogs’ football program. He served as the wide receivers coach and assisted the recruiting efforts for the team while coaching multiple all-conference wide receivers and one All-America honoree.

As an undergraduate at Wingate, Softcheck was a three-year letter winner and served as a team captain. He was a member of the team and class that tied the Wingate career and single season record for victories. Softcheck also earned a Masters of Arts in Education (Sport Administration) from Wingate in 2011.
