Lucas joins St. Anselm staff

MANCHESTER Taylor Lucas  has been hired as St. Anselm College’s offensive line coach Wednesday.

Lucas, a native of Brookfield, Wisc., joins the Hawks from Carroll University, where he assisted the offensive coordinator and the offensive line coach since March 2016. He also provided assistance to the tight ends, fullbacks and special teams units while managing multiple recruiting territories, including in the Midwest.

“I am excited to be joining this program,” Lucas said. “I am thankful to [St. Anselm head coach] Joe Adam for this great opportunity to coach high-caliber student-athletes, both on the field and in the classroom. I am looking forward to working with the great student-athletes, faculty and staff on the Hilltop.”

Prior to his position at Carroll, Lucas also assisted the football program at his alma mater, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. As a recruiting assistant, Lucas was a critical point of contact for prospective student-athletes and planned campus visits and conducted facility tours.

As an undergraduate, Lucas also assisted the Pointers with their game day operations program. He was a liaison to several Division III championship events, including the 2014 and 2015 First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. He also assisted during the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Final Four in 2014.

Lucas, a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District and a two-time Academic All-America selection, was the Academic Coordinator for the football program at Carroll. He oversaw and coordinated all aspects of the academic program as his student-athletes produced a 3.0+ grade-point average in two consecutive semesters for the first time in 30 years.

A four-year starting offensive lineman for the Pointers from 2012-15, Lucas was a key part of the 2014 squad that was nationally-ranked and racked up seven wins in 10 games. The offensive line allowed the UW-Stevens Point rushing game to average 114.8 yards per game and the 14 rushing touchdowns by the Pointers was the third-most in the conference.

Lucas, a team captain for the Pointers as a senior, graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration with a minor in Political Science. He is set to graduate with a master’s degree from Carroll in May 2018.
