Kyle Poulin’s completed pass to Brandon Wall on a successful two-point conversion attempt capped the game’s scoring with 3.7 seconds remaining in the first half and handed Salem a 15-14 triumph over previously unbeaten Pinkerton Academy on Friday night.

Wall’s two-point conversion followed Poulin’s 32-yard touchdown pass to Michael Ference. Poulin completed 6 of 12 passes for 66 yards in the victory, which raised Salem’s record to 4-1. Pinkerton (4-1) entered the game as the No. 1 team in the Union Leader Power Poll.

Pinkerton took a 14-7 lead after Gannon Fast scored on an 8-yard run — his second touchdown of the game — with 31.8 left in the first half. Fast also helped the Astros take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but Salem responded with an 82-yard scoring drive that ended with Wall’s 5-yard run plus a Zach Gibbons point-after kick with 3:06 remaining in the first quarter.

Wall gained 140 yards on 22 carries.

Salem’s victory created a three-way tie at the top of Division I South between Salem, Pinkerton and Londonderry.
