Knight earned Golden Helmet award

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – University of New Hampshire senior quarterback Trevor Knight (Amherst) was awarded the New England Football Writers Division I Gold Helmet on Wednesday afternoon.

Knight, who had been sidelined since incurring a shoulder injury in the second quarter of the season opener, completed 22 of 38 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns to lead UNH to a 28-0 victory against Holy Cross at Wildcat Stadium on Saturday. Knight started the game and played the first three quarters. He carried the ball once for 5 yards and was not sacked.

Knight led the Wildcats to a touchdown each of the first two drives against Holy Cross. He was 4 for 4 for 22 yards, including a one-yard TD pass to Kieran Presley on UNH’s opening drive of seven plays and 68 yards. On the next UNH drive, Knight completed 4 of 5 passes for 43 yards and capped the 6-play, 55-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Sean Coyne.

Knight also threw a pair of TD passes in the third quarter. He found Justin Malone-Woods in the back of the end zone for a 3-yard pass play at 10:08 and connected with Neil O’Connor  for an 8-yard TD pass at 5:07.

Knight ascended to No. 6 on the UNH career leaderboard for passing yards with 5,533. He is also No. 6 in pass attempts (855) and No. 7 in completions (505).
