The Hawks will play 11 games in the upcoming season, the most in one campaign since 2016. Saint Anselm will battle two non-league opponents for the first time, opening with California (Pa.) University on Friday, Sept. 6 and later heading to Tiffin University on Saturday, Oct. 5.

“We are excited to provide our student-athletes with an opportunity to play as many football games as possible,” Saint Anselm head coach Joe Adam said. “It has been a point of emphasis to play other Division II institutions and we were able to accomplish that within this schedule model. I know our team will prepare for some great opponents in 2019 and we welcome those challenges.”

With the departure of LIU Post and Merrimack to NCAA Division I, the new scheduling arrangement in the Northeast-10 Conference requires each team to play one of the league’s nine programs twice. This year, the Hawks and the Greyhounds from Assumption College will do battle in a home-and-home series – the first meeting will not count toward NE10 standings.

After the season-opening match against California (Pa.) under the lights at Grappone Stadium, the Hawks will play their first of two games against Assumption in Worcester, Mass. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. Homecoming will be against Stonehill on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. on the Hilltop.

Back-to-back road games against Pace (Saturday, Sept. 28) and Tiffin (Saturday, Oct. 5) will precede a 6 p.m. home game against New Haven on Saturday, Oct. 12. Saint Anselm will tangle with the Ravens of Franklin Pierce in what is their first NCAA Division II season on Saturday, Oct. 19 at high noon.

The Hawks host Southern Connecticut State on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. before back-to-back road games against Bentley on Saturday, Nov. 2 and American International on Saturday, Nov. 9. Saint Anselm will celebrate its seniors prior to the Saturday, Nov. 16 home game against Assumption at 1 p.m.

Saint Anselm enters its fourth season under the direction of Adam, who recently announced the first 21 members of his recruiting class. The group of student-athletes includes individuals from 10 of the 50 states and continues to grow as the 2019 season draws closer.

The Hawks seek to improve a 1-8 record last season against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Three of those defeats came by four or less points. Saint Anselm handed American International a 29-21 loss during Homecoming Weekend and the squad played a triple-overtime contest against Stonehill to open the season, scoring 54 points in one of the highest-scoring games in program history.
