CHaD Practice: Day 4

Notes from the fourth day of practice for this year’s CHaD New Hampshire East/West All-Star Game, which will be played Saturday (6 p.m. kickoff) at Wildcat Stadium on the University of New Hampshire campus:

CHaD GAME
PRACTICE REPORT

Rain and the threat of thunder showers caused both teams to move Tuesday’s practice indoors. The West practiced at The Hampshire Dome in Milford, and the East worked out at the New Hampshire SportsPlex in Bedford. … The West is without Nashua South linebacker/running back Jaylen Pacheco, who suffered a torn ACL while playing lacrosse, and Plymouth lineman Steven Shute, who also has an ACL injury. Shute chose to remain with the team. Plymouth lineman Tracy Cristiano replaced Pacheco on the roster. … East coach Jimmy Lauzon (Londonderry) said his team finished Tuesday’s practice healthy. … “We’re really athletic,” West coach Eric Brown (Concord) said. “We’re not nearly as big as we were last year, but the kids are really quick. All across the board we’re really athletic. When you look at it on paper the skill kids are our strength.  With Mumpini (Bedford’s Lucien Mumpini) and Olibrice (Central’s Nick Olibrice) we have two pretty good receivers, and the kid who’s having a really good camp on both sides on the ball is Chandler Matson from Monadnock. We moved him to defensive end and he’ll also get some carries.” … Brown said he expects to use three quarterbacks in the game: Concord’s Zach Miles, Central’s Alex Hawkom and Bedford’s Thomas Morgan. … St. Thomas’ Shawn DeKorne and Londonderry’s Evan Cormier  are the East quarterbacks. “Been very impressed with both of them,” Lauzon said. “Both have done a good job. Obviously Evan’s familiar with the system, but DeKorne’s picked everything up really well. There’s certain plays we want Cormier running, and certain plays we want DeKorne running.” … Lauzon said it’s going to be hard to not play Salem’s Jared White on both sides of the ball. White is a two-way tackle. Lauzon also said Inter-Lakes lineman Ryan Caswell has been impressive. “I can’t really say enough about Caswell from Inter-Lakes,” he said. “He’s been excellent. Looks really good on both sides of the ball. We have some great Division I (NHIAA) linemen here and he’s right up there with all those guys.” … The West will practice at Manchester Memorial today (4:30-7:30 p.m.). The East will practice at Manchester West (5-7:30 p.m.).
