After the second day of workouts for this year’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl, New Hampshire coach Bill Raycraft said Bedford linebacker Zach Garron and Kingswood running back Cameron Mann are among the New Hampshire players who have stood out. “Garron is really doing well,” Raycraft said. “Mann loves football, loves contact.” … This year’s Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl will be played Saturday (5:30 p.m.) at Castleton (Vt.) University. Vermont extended its winning streak to three games with a 24-13 victory last year. New Hampshire leads the series 47-17-2. … The extreme heat may alter today’s practice schedule. New Hampshire’s first workout is scheduled for 5:30 a.m. “We’ll go out in helmets and shoulder pads in the morning,” Raycraft said. “Then we’ll decide if we can go inside or outside in the afternoon, and what we can do and what we can’t do.” …  Raycraft said he hopes to have his entire offense installed by Wednesday. … Vermont is expected to run a spread offense and a 4-4 defense. … Kennett’s Sam Pollard is handling the kicking duties. … The first Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl was played at Nashua’s Holman Stadium in 1954. … Media Day will be held at Castleton on Tuesday. … “The kids have been great,” Raycraft said. “We’ve been pushing them hard. We’ve talked to them about why we’re here. I think they get the big picture.”
