Ravens roughed up in opener

RINDGE — Wesley College scored 51 first-half points and breezed to a 69-0 victory over Franklin Pierce in the Ravens’ Division II debut Saturday at Sodexo Field on Saturday afternoon.

The 69 points were the most the Wolverines have scored in a game since tallying a school-record 75 points vs. Virgina-Lynchburg in 2014. Wesley out-gained the Ravens 544 to 26 yards in total offense and finished with an advantage of 28-3 in first downs.

Seven players accounted for the Wolverines’ nine touchdowns in the contest. Senior receiver Ruhann Peele caught 12 passes for 134 yards and three TDs.

Junior quarterback David Marrocco, who was making his first career start, completed 13 of 16 passes for 166 yards with four touchdowns. Senior Jon Mullin also saw action, completing 8 of 10 passes for 81 yards. He also ran for a touchdown.

Franklin Pierce had been playing Sprint Football until this season.
