NE-10 honors Cody

MANSFIELD, Mass. Saint Anselm junior Joey Cody (Cinnaminson, N.J.) was selected as the Northeast-10 Conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.

Cody booted three field goals on Saturday at Assumption College to become only the fourth student-athlete in team history to accomplish that feat. He also had a 59 yard punt and averaged 40.2 yards on the day while punting. He also recorded six kickoffs for 331 yards, averaging 55.2 yards per kick.

Cody leads the NE-10 with five field goals made and has posted 18 points, leading all NE-10 specialists in scoring. He heads into Saturday’s home contest against Stonehill tied for second in NCAA Division II with 2.5 field goals made per game.

A Second Team All-Conference selection last year, Cody took over placekicking duties in 2019 and has made five of his first six attempts. He has logged nearly 1,800 yards punting in only nine games, ranking 10th all-time through nine career games played.

Cody is the first Special Teams Player of the Week from Saint Anselm since former St. Thomas Aquinas standout Ryan Monette won the award on Nov. 7, 2016.
