Assumption handles Franklin Pierce

WORCESTER The Franklin Pierce University football program played away from the friendly confines of Sodexo Field for the first time as an NCAA Division II program on Saturday and dropped a 53-6 decision to Assumption College.

The loss sendsto 1-3, 0-2 NE10 while the Greyhounds improve to 3-1, 2-0 NE10.

Franklin Pierce (1-3, 0-2 NE-10) allowed 53 points in the first half. The Ravens scored their lone touchdown on a 10-yard run by junior wide receiver Lo Jackson Jr. 

Three quarterbacks took snaps for Assumption led by Easton Turner,  who completed 6 of 11 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown. Berrell Neal gained 85 yards on 12 attempts (7.1 avg.) and two TDs.

Jackson ran for 47 yards on six carries. Freshman quarterback Drew Campanale (Shrewsbury, Mass.) threw for 79 yards and freshman wide receiver Sekou Veillard (Davie, Fla.) hauled in a game-high four catches for 32 yards.

On the defensive end, freshman linebacker Najiere Hutchinson (Neptune, N.J.) racked up seven tackles to lead FPU. Freshman defensive lineman Chris Yeboah (Worcester, Mass.) recorded a sack for the second straight game to go along with three tackles.
