Lebanon won a battle of unbeaten teams by scoring 55 straight points in Saturday’s 62-14 triumph over Hillsboro-Deering/Hopkinton. The victory, plus Trinity’s overtime win against Campbell, left Lebanon (5-0) as the only undefeated team in Division III.

The game’s turning point came with 35 seconds left in the first half, when Lebanon’s Caleb Smith intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown to give the Raiders a 21-14 halftime lead. Smith also caught a 13-yard TD pass in the second half, when the Raiders outscored the Redhawks (4-1) 41-0.

Lebanon running back Wade Rainey ran for 155 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries and also kicked five PATs; quarterback Jon Willeman completed 5 of 13 passes for 83 yards and a TD and also scored on a 67-yard run; and linebacker CJ Childs scored on a 7-yard run and a 27-yard interception return. Lebanon’s Logan Sanchez also scored on a 7-yard run.

Through five games the Lebanon defense is allowing an average of 12.4 points per game, and has limited three of its five opponents to seven points or less.
