Team of the Week: Fall Mountain

Fall Mountain Wildcats

The Wildcats (4-2) extended their winning streak to four games with a 21-0 victory over Mascoma (2-5) Saturday. Morgan Wilbur scored two touchdowns in the win, and Izaak Westover ran for 168 yards and scored the other TD.

It was the team’s third shutout of the season. Fall Mountain allowed six points in its four wins.

The victory also secured a Division IV playoff berth for the Wildcats. Fall Mountain can finish no worse than fourth place in the final regular-season standings.

It’s the program’s first playoff berth since 1994, when Fall Mountain was the No. 4 seed in Division III and lost to top-seeded Somersworth 62-28 in the semifinals.

A victory over Newfound on Friday would give Fall Mountain its second winning season since that 1994 playoff appearance. The Wildcats finished 5-4 in 1999.
