BG, Timberlane win Rumbles

Bishop Guertin and Timberlane won the Freshman Rumbles held Wednesday at Alvirne High School and Londonderry High School.

Bishop Guertin defeated Spaulding in the championship game at Alvirne, and Timberlane defeated Exeter to win the event at Londonderry. Each tournament used an overtime format where each team had a possession from the 10-yard line.

BG was seeded third after the round-robin portion of the tournament, and defeated second-seeded Nashua South in the semifinals. Top-seeded Spaulding advanced with a semifinal victory over fourth-seeded Manchester Central.

Nashua North, Alvirne, Winnacunnet and Windham were the other teams that participated at Alvrine.

Goffstown, the No. 1 seed, beat fourth-seeded Pinkerton to advance in the semifinals at Londonderry. Second-seeded Exeter moved on by beating third-seeded Bedford.

Goffstown, Salem and Londonderry also participated in the Rumble at Londonderry
