TOP 10 NHIAA GAMES FROM 2019
No. 9: Alvirne 23, Souhegan 22

Alvirne wasn’t about to play for a tie. No sir.

So after running back Alex Giuffrida scored with 19 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the Broncos gave the ball to Giuffrida again. When he reached the end zone on the two-point conversion attempt Alvirne had a one-point lead that held up in a battle between two of the top teams in Division II South.

Giuffrida carried the ball 28 times for 156 yards and three touchdowns.

Souhegan looked like it would raise its record to 3-0 when it scored to take a 22-15 lead with four minutes to play, but Alvirne, which was coming off a one-point loss to St. Thomas, avoided back-to-back losses by scoring on its final drive.

Alvirne’s final TD was set up by a long pass from quarterback Kyle Gora to Ayvion Prak.

Alvirne led 7-6 at halftime, and expanded the lead to 15-6 on a Giuffrida run and Dylan Bliss’ two-point conversion. The Sabers evened the score with a touchdown and then a game-tying safety, beginnng a stretch of 16 straight points.

No. 10: Windham 28, Central 21
