Merrimack advances in helmet tourney

Alvirne High School and Merrimack High School were New Hampshire’s representatives in the National Helmet Tournament. Each program’s helmet was among the final 64 in the contest.

Alvirne automatically qualified for the field of 64 by winning the New Hampshire state championship via voting on Twitter. The Broncos were eliminated by the Williamsport (Pa.) Millionaires in the Round of 64.

Merrimack, which qualified as an at-large selection from New Hampshire, advanced to the Round of 32 by beating the Kuna (Idaho) Cavemen. The Tomahawks will face the Centennial Cougars, the Minnesota state champion, in the Round of 32. Centennial beat the Jefferson Blue Jays, an at-large selection from Missouri, in the Round of 64.Head
