Knight leaving Delaware

Running back Will Knight rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries to lead Delaware to a 16-10 victory over the University of New Hampshire when the teams met in 2019, but UNH won’t have to worry about Knight when the teams play in Durham on March 20.

Knight announced Sunday via his Twitter account that he plans to transfer and will not spend a second season with the Delaware program.

Knight was Delaware’s leading rusher in 2019, when he ran for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 275 yards and another TD that year.

He became the second Delaware player to run for more than 900 yards as a freshman, and earned second-team All-Colonial Athletic Association honors.

This will be the second time in three years that Knight has transferred. He verbally committed to Delaware out of high school, but signed with Old Dominion instead. He played in four games for the Monarchs as a true freshman, so the season didn’t count against his four years of eligibility. Knight then transferred to Delaware.

Knight is the second player to leave the Delware program in 2021. Linebacker Debo Williams announced last week that he’s transferring to South Carolina.
