RICHMOND, Va. – In conjunction with the CAA, game times for the 2021 University of New Hampshire football season were announced Wednesday. The Wildcats kick off the season Sept. 2 (6 p.m.) at Stony Brook University.
UNH’s five-game home slate begins Sept. 11 (6 p.m.) vs. Towson University at Wildcat Stadium. It will be Towson’s first trip to Durham since the 2017 season, when UNH prevailed 40-17.
New Hampshire plays three October home games. The month opens Oct. 2 (3:30 p.m.) at home against NCAA semifinalist James Madison University. The last time these teams met at Wildcat Stadium, the Wildcats were 35-24 victors against the third-ranked Dukes in November 2018.
The Granite State rivalry against Dartmouth College is renewed Oct. 16 (1 p.m.) at Wildcat Stadium. These intrastate foes last battled in the 2016 season and the most recent matchup in Durham was in 2012, which was prior to the construction of Wildcat Stadium.
UNH closes the 2021 regular season with five consecutive CAA conference games beginning Oct. 23 (2 p.m.) at Elon University. It’ll be the Wildcats’ first trip to Rhoades Stadium since 2018.
It’s a 1 p.m. kickoff when the Wildcats welcome the University of Richmond to Wildcat Stadium on Oct. 30. These CAA football programs have not met since Nov. 2015, when UNH prevailed 30-25.
The Wildcats are on the road the next two weeks – Nov. 6 at UAlbany and Nov. 13 at University of Rhode Island, both at 1 p.m.
UNH and the University of Maine battle for the Brice-Cowell Musket in the Nov. 20 regular-season finale; game time is 1 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats have won nine of the last 10 matchups against the Black Bears, and that includes 28-10 in the most recent matchup (November 2019 in Durham).
The UNH football promotional schedule and on-sale date for single-game tickets will be announced later this summer.
New Hampshire has advanced to the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs 14 of the past 17 seasons. With 98 career CAA victories, 22nd-year head coach Sean McDonnell is the winningest active coach in the league and No. 3 all-time in CAA history.
