Poll: Plymouth State No. 5

PLYMOUTH – Plymouth State University has been picked to finish fifth in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) as voted on by the league’s nine football coaches.

The Panthers, led by 19-year head coach Paul Castonia, earned 35 points to finish fifth, just ahead of Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Framingham State University, which went unbeaten in MASCAC play to capture the 2019 league title, took home six first-place votes and is the favorite to win the conference again.

Plymouth State went 6-4 overall (4-4 MASCAC) during the 2019 season to secure a fifth-straight winning season. The Panthers opened the year winning five-of-six games with the lone setback coming in a one-score game at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.

PSU opens the season on Saturday (Sept. 4) at Castleton University before celebrating its home-opener on the new Panther Field on Sept. 11 in a 1 p.m. game against Husson University.
