NHFR Team of the Week: Exeter

NHFR TEAM OF THE WEEK
Exeter Blue Hawks

Exeter rushed for 385 yards and opened the season with a 37-14 victory over Goffstown, which entered the game ranked No. 2 in Union Leader Power Poll.

The Blue Hawks used eight ball carriers in the victory. Jake Wiberg (10 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown), Ian Ireland (six carries for 96 yards and a touchdown) and Nate Leighton (five carries for 87 yards and two touchdowns) led the rushing attack.

The Blue Hawks also received a touchown pass from junior Aidan McGinley, who connected with Michael Detorre for a 24-yard scoring strike that helped Exeter take a 34-0 lead in the third quarter. It was McGinley’s first varsity start at QB.

The Exeter defense came to play as well. The Blue Hawks limited the Grizlies to 57 yards rushing, 35 of which came on the game’s final drive.
