Team of the Week: St. Thomas

St. Thomas Aquinas Saints

St. Thomas scored in every quarter and stretched its Division II winning streak to six games by beating Plymouth 28-21 Saturday in Dover.

It was a 14-14 game at halftime, but St. Thomas scored the next two touchdowns to take control. After Plymouth made it a 28-21 game in the fourth quarter the Saints (6-1) were able to run out the clock.

St. Thomas broke a 14-14 tie when quarterback Michael Skowron scored from a yard away in the third quarter. The TD capped a 10-play, 66-yard dive. Skowron also scored his team’s first touchdown on a QB sneak.

The Saints went up 28-14 thanks to Spencer Lassard’s 37-yard TD run in the forth quarter.

Running back Tyler Leedberg scored the other Saints TD on a 12-yard run just before halftime. Taig Healy’s PAT made it a 14-14 game. Leedberg gained 134 yards on 20 carries.

In addition to his touchdown, Lassard intercepted two passes. Devon Paquette also interceted a pass.

The loss dropped Plymouth’s record to 5-2.
