Defense carries Saint Anselm

Saint Anselm 24, Pace 16

MANCHESTER – The Saint Anselm College football team picked up a 24-16 victory over visiting Pace University on Saturday at Grappone Stadium.

The Hawks improve to 2-5 overall on the year and to 2-4 against Northeast-10 Conference opponents. Pace, who entered with two consecutive victories in the all-time series with Saint Anselm, drops to 1-6 overall and to 1-4 versus the league so far in 2021.

Plymouth State 42, Worcester State 14

PLYMOUTH – Senior Ryan Milliken (Lebanon, N.H.) returned a punt 85 yards for a touchdown to jumpstart Plymouth State University in a 42-14 win over Worcester State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) football game at Panther Field on Saturday afternoon.

SCSU 43, Franklin Pierce 24

RINDGE — The Franklin Pierce University football team fell at home, 43-24, to Southern Connecticut State on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field, as the Ravens were unable to hold back the Owls’ offense. Junior EJ Burgess (Pearland, Texas) rushed for 149 yards and three scores to lead the way for Franklin Pierce. Freshman Marc Reali threw for 378 yards and two touchdowns to guide SCSU to the victory.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-7 (0-6 NE10), while SCSU improves to 4-4 (3-3 NE10).
