NE-10 releases preseason poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Saint Anselm College football team is projected to finish fifth out of eight teams in the Northeast-10 Conference’s annual Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which was released Monday.

New Haven, which received seven first-place votes, came in at No. 1 in the poll. Assumption is slotted to finish second and received one first-place vote. Bentley and Pace rounded out the top half of the standings. Saint Anselm, Southern Connecticut State, American International and Franklin Pierce rounded out the poll.

Saint Anselm ranked at the top of the NE-10 in several statistical categories during the 2021 season, including passing offense (314.7) and team tackles for a loss per game (7.7).

Saint Anselm will face 11 teams in 11 weeks, starting at home on Sept. 1 against Millersville.

Last season, Saint Anselm won three out of its four games played on the Hilltop and had four student-athletes earn All-Conference honors from the NE10 following the season. The Hawks roster also featured the NE10’s overall Rookie of the Year in sophomore quarterback Drew Willoughby (Austin, Texas).
