BANGOR, Maine – Senior Manny Sanchez (Hartford, Conn.) topped the 100-yard mark on the ground and Plymouth State University held Husson University to 0-for-2 in red zone chances as the Panthers picked up an impressive 17-0 win at John Winkin Sports Complex on Saturday.
Sanchez ripped off runs of 17 and 5-yards and graduate student Thanos Boulukos (Old Bethpage, N.Y.) gained another 5 yards on the ground to set up sophomore Braden Lynn (Littleton, Mass.) for an 18-yard touchdown pass to junior Kyle Baker (Pelham, N.H.) for the first score of the game.
Husson responded with a 51-yard drive, but senior Kayden Baillargeon (Derry, N.H.) came up with a key interception at the PSU 20-yard line as the Panthers took a 7-0 lead into halftime.
The PSU defense added a sack and forced fumble in the third quarter to get the momentum going for the offense again. Sanchez and Boulukos worked a short field for a rushing TD, and Lynn moved the ball effectively up the field for a field goal by sophomore Seth Disalvo (North Andover, Mass.) to bump the score to 17-0 and drop the Eagles.
Plymouth State improved to 2-0, while Husson fell to 0-2.

How it Happened:
- After some back-and-forth possessions between the two teams, the Panthers got the momentum started in the second quarter with the committee of Sanchez and Boulukos breaking off big chunks of yardage to start the drive.
- Junior Tyler Kayo (Londonderry, N.H.) picked up 3 yards on a fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive and four plays later Lynn hooked up with Baker for an 18-yard strike to cap the drive. Disalvo split the uprights for the PAT to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
- Husson marched right back down the field on its next possession, but Baillargeon picked off the Eagles’ quarterback at the PSU 20-yard line and Plymouth State ran out the clock to take the lead into halftime.
- While the offense was unable to pad the lead in the third quarter, the Panthers’ defense made some big plays to preserve the lead. Junior Collin Crowe (Simsbury, Conn.) came up with a five-yard sack on third-and-seven, and on the Eagles’ next drive, senior Luc Normandeau (Dover, N.H.) punched the ball loose from the running back and junior Emmanuel Ughu (Milford, N.H.) recovered.
- PSU got back on track following the recovery as Sanchez worked the short field before Boulukos found the end zone from two yards out to extend the lead to 14-0 early in the fourth quarter.
- On Plymouth’s next drive, Lynn completed a crucial 8-yard pass to graduate student Jake Donahue (Hudson, N.H.) to help setup Disalvo’s 35-yard field goal that put the game out of reach.
