NHFR Team of the Week: Bedford

NHFR TEAM OF THE WEEK
Bedford Bulldogs

The Bulldogs raised their record to 2-1 by traveling to Saco, Maine, and beating Thornton Academy — Maine’s Class A state champion the last three seasons — 16-10.

The Bulldogs led 7-3 at halftime and 14-10 after three quarters. Thornton held a 10-7 lead early in the third. Bedford entered the game having not allowed a touchdown in six quarters.

Quarterback Danny Black completed 8 of 15 passes for 124 yards in the win. One of his completions was a 20-yard touchdown pass to Colby Snow in the second quarter.  Running back Ledger Russell scored Bedford’s other TD on a 1-yard run. He finished the game with 95 yards on21 carries.

Bedford also recorded a safety with less than two minutes to play.

Dom Tagliaferro intercepted two passes for the Bulldogs, the second of which came on Thornton Academy’s final drive.
