Dartmouth owned the longest active winning streak at the FCS level.
Sacred Heart (2-2) rallied from a 31-17 second-half deficit with Grant scoring two touchdowns, the second of which came on a 1-yard run with just over two minutes left in regulation.
After Grant’s overtime touchdown, Howard cut in front of a Dartmouth receiver to pick off Nick Howard’s fourth-down pass from the 5-yard line.
Dartmouth (1-1) jumped out to a 21-3 first-quarter lead thanks to touchdown runs by Q Jones (68 yards) and Howard (30 yards) plus Howard’s 35-yard TD pass to Jonny Barrett.
Sacred Heart quarterback Marquez McCray completed 31 of 36 passes for 274 yards passing and was intercepted once. Grant rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries.
Howard rushed for 186 yards and two TDs on 24 carries, and passed for 120 yards and another TD. He was intercepted twice. Jones had 158 yards rushing on 12 carries.
