Playoff Projections: Division III

NHFR PLAYOFF PROJECTIONS

New Hampshire Football Report’s best guess as to how things will look when the regular season is complete:

DIVISION III
Playoff field: Campbell, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough, Monadnock and Trinity.

Semifinal matchups: No. 4 Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough (6-3) at No. 1 Trinity (9-0), and No. 3 Monadnock (7-2) at No. 2 Campbell (8-1).

Comment: All playoff teams are determined by the NHIAA football point rating (explanation below). Teams are seeded by the point rating as well. … Trinity is the only unbeaten team in Division III and will earn the No. 1 seed unless it loses at least once during the regular season. …  The winner of Saturday’s game between Campbell and Monadnock will be in the best position to secure the No. 2 seed and a home game for the semifinals. That game will be played in Litchfield … In NHFR’s scenario, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough is projected to win its final four games to qualify as the No. 4 seed without any tiebreakers. Fall Mountain will likely be the No. 4 seed if it defeats I-L/M on Oct. 15, however.

Point Rating explained: The NHIAA football point rating awards 10 points for each game a team wins, plus two points for each game a beaten opponent has won. The point total is then divided by the number of games played. So if Team A beats Team B and Team B has a 3-5 record, Team A would receive 16 points  — 10 for the win plus two for each of Team B’s three victories (six total). The point total is then divided by the number of games played by Team A.
