NHFR Team of the Week: Pelham

NHFR TEAM OF THE WEEK
Pelham Pythons

The Pythons won a battle of unbeatens and remained in the hunt for the No. 1 overall seed in Division II by beating Souhegan 28-21 Friday night in Amherst.

Quarterback Jake Travis broke a 21-21 tie when he scored from a yard away with 32 seconds remaning in the game. Travis also tossed two TD passes, a 19-yarder to Alex Carroll and a 40-yard completion to Jake Cawthron.

Running back Ethan Demmons scored Pelham’s other TD on a 3-yard run. Demmons gained 119 yards on 24 carries. The Pythons ran for 217 yards in the victory, which extended the program’s winning streak to 26 games.

Pelham (8-0) can earn the No. 1 seed if it beats Hanover (6-2) on Friday night and Gilford/Belmont (8-0) loses at St. Thomas (4-4). A victory over Hanover means the Pythons will be seeded no lower than No. 2.

The loss dropped Souhegan’s record to 7-1.
